Gorilla tracking in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

The 7,800 km2 Virunga National Park contains savannas, forests, lava fields, swamps, valleys, active volcanoes and glaciers. The variety could not be greater! Virunga is also home to 1/4 of the world's only mountain gorilla population. In addition, the park also has Garuer's mountain gorilla and chimpanzees. Another prominent resident is the vulnerable Okapi, which looks like a cross between a giraffe and a zebra.

Day 3

Gorilla, Kibumba Camp

Gorilla tracking from sunrise. The park rangers know where the family groups are at all times, so it would take a lot for us not to experience seeing mountain gorillas up close today. The mountain gorillas we tourists visit are so-called habituated family groups.

Day 4

Gorilla, Mikeno Camp

After an early breakfast we travel to the starting point of the gorilla tracking in the national park. Today you have another chance to get your long-awaited close-up shot of the silverback. After the tracking we move to the delightful Mikeno Lodge.
